At least 15 people died in a stampede at a railway station in the state of India. The incident occurred at the Elphinstone railway station in Mumbai. According to police reports, the stampede happened when a group of passengers rushed onto the platform to board a train. "There were many people on the platform. Passengers, seeing the approaching train, began to run to secure their places. In the end, this led to a crush and tragedy," said one of the eyewitnesses. "We provided medical assistance to the victims and took them to the nearest hospitals," added the police representative. In recent years, incidents involving stampedes at railway stations in India have occurred repeatedly, often caused by a lack of measures for safety and poor organization of passenger traffic.
